Product Detail
Name: N-Methyldioctylamine
CAS: 4455-26-9
Feature:
N-Methyldioctylamine (N,N,-dioctylmethylamine), a two branched C8 amine is an organic base. N-Methyldioctylamine is a chemical synthesis intermediate material. N-Methyldioctylamine is a tertiary amino compound. The molecular formula of N-Methyldioctylamine is C17H37N. Its molecular weight is 255.48. The melting and boiling points of N-Methyldioctylamine are -30.1 °C and 162-165 °C/15 mmHg, respectively. Contact with it may irritate skin, eyes and mucous membranes. It may be toxic if ingested, inhaled or absorbed through the skin. It is used in the manufacture of other chemicals.
N-Methyldioctylamine is toxic. Inhalation, ingestion or skin contact with material may cause severe injury or death. Contact with molten substance may cause severe burns to skin and eyes. Avoid any skin contact. Effects of contact or inhalation may be delayed. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may be corrosive and/or toxic and cause pollution.
N-Methyldioctylamine is combustible material. It may burn but does not ignite readily. When heated, vapors may form explosive mixtures with air: indoors, outdoors and sewers explosion hazards. Contact with metals may evolve flammable hydrogen gas. Containers may explode when heated. Runoff may pollute waterways. Substance may be transported in a molten form.
N-Methyldioctylamine has the following applications/functions:
1. N-Methyldioctylamine is an intermediate in synthesizing Bisoctyl Dimethyl Ammonium Chloride (B508880), which is used in the precipitation of silver ions and may be applied to the novel formation if nanoprecipitations using single reverse micellar system.
2. N-Methyldioctylamine is the main raw material for the production of cationic quaternary ammonium salt. It can be reacted with benzyl chloride to produce double-chain benzyl quaternary ammonium salt D0817. It is used in the disinfectant industry. The fungicide industry is widely used.
3. N-Methyldioctylamine can react with quaternized raw materials such as methyl chloride to produce double-chain quaternary ammonium salt D0821, which is used as a bactericide and softener in oil fields, textiles, Application in daily chemical and other industries.
4. N-Methyldioctylamine can also react with dimethyl sulfate and diethyl sulfate to form Gemini quaternary ammonium salt.
