The pre weaning mortality rate of newborn piglets is generally around 10%, and in severe cases, it can even be 25% or even more than 50%, with most deaths concentrated in the first week after childbirth, causing significant economic losses to the pig industry. So, how can we achieve zero mortality of weaned piglets? I will introduce a method to you toaday.
Before consuming colostrum, piglets can receive a conventional dose of attenuated swine fever vaccine, commonly known as advanced immunization, and then be allowed to freely breastfeed after 2 hours. In addition, sows can be given oxytetracycline to prevent piglets from developing red and yellow dysentery. The pen should be cleaned daily to keep it clean and dry, providing a hygienic, quiet, and fresh air living environment for piglets. Careful observation should be conducted every day, and if any diarrhea or abnormal phenomena are found, timely diagnosis and treatment should be carried out.
