N,N-Dimethylcapramide is an amide, which is a compound in which the hydroxyl group of the carboxyl group in the carboxylic acid molecule is replaced by an amino group or a hydrocarbon amino group (-NHR or -NR2). The molecular formula of N,N-Dimethylcapramide is C12H25NO, and the molecular mass is 199.33. Its density is 0.9216g/cm³. N,N-Dimethylcapramide is insoluble in water and has a density less than that of water. So it floats on the water. It is soluble in organic solvents such as isopropanol. N,N-Dimethylcapramide has a mild amine odor.
N,N-Dimethylcapramide belongs to a unique class of disubstituted amides with utility in coatings, household, industrial and institutional applications. It displays a broad range of properties, including excellent solvency, a low VOC content, as well as heat and hydrolysis stability. N,N-Dimethylcapramide can not only dissolve organic compounds, but also many inorganic compounds, it is a good solvent. N,N-Dimethylcapramide is used in pharmaceutical, agrochemicals, veterinary drug and intermediate for organic synthesis. N,N-Dimethylcapramide is also used in the manufacture of other chemicals.
N,N-Dimethylcapramide has the following applications/functions:
1. N,N-Dimethylcapramide can expand the difference in hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity between gold minerals or gold-bearing minerals and gangue, so that they can be sorted better. N,N- Dimethylcapramide can achieve the purpose of improving gold recovery rate, so it can be used as mineral flotation agent.
2. N,N-Dimethylcapramide is a chemical substance and compound that can prevent or slow down the corrosion of materials.
3. N,N-Dimethylcapramide is mainly used to prepare its derivatives, such as quaternary ammonium salts, dodecyl betaine and amine oxides, etc.
4. When N,N-Dimethylcapramide is used in cosmetics, it has vastly superior solvency for sunscreen actives compared to traditional esters, and it is much more polar. N,N Dimethylcapramide also improves the freeze-thaw stability of emulsions.
