N,N-dimethyldodecylamine-N-oxide is a special type of surfactant. It becomes cationic in acidic media and non-ionic in neutral or alkaline media. In addition to its general surfactant properties, N,N-dimethyldodecylamine-N-oxide also has excellent solubilizing, thickening, emulsifying, foaming, foam stabilization, softening, moisturizing, antistatic and detergency capabilities. N,N-dimethyldodecylamine-N-oxide is an amphoteric surfactant and is a weak cationic surfactant. It is easily soluble in water and polar organic solvents, and slightly soluble in non-polar organic solvents. It also has the characteristics of calcium soap dispersion and easy biodegradation.
