N,N-Dimethyldecylamine CAS:1120-24-7

Name: N,N-Dimethyldecylamine CAS: 1120-24-7 Feature: N,N-Dimethyldecylamine is a useful synthetic intermediate. N,N-Dimethyldecylamine is a tertiary amine. It can be prepared by reacting N,N-dimethyldodecylamine, t-butyl hydroperoxide, vanadium oxyacetylacetonate and t-butyl alcohol. The molecular formula of N,N-Dimethyldecylamine is C12H27N and its molecular weight is 185.35. N,N-Dimethyldecylamine is insoluble in water and has a density lower than that of water. So it floats on the water. It can be used to prepare emodin (E523000) quaternary ammonium salt derivatives as potential anticancer agents It is also a reactant used to synthesize Benzyldecyldimethylammonium chloride (B234550), a biocide.

N,N-Dimethyldecylamine is toxic. Inhalation, ingestion or skin contact with material may cause severe injury or death. Contact with molten substance may cause severe burns to skin and eyes. Avoid any skin contact. Effects of contact or inhalation may be delayed. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may be corrosive and/or toxic and cause pollution.

N,N-Dimethyldecylamine is combustible material. It may burn but does not ignite readily. When heated, vapors may form explosive mixtures with air: indoors, outdoors and sewers explosion hazards. Contact with metals may evolve flammable hydrogen gas. Containers may explode when heated. Runoff may pollute waterways. Substance may be transported in a molten form.

N,N-Dimethyldecylamine has the following applications/functions:

1. N,N-Dimethyldecylamine can be used as a pore expansion of the aminopropyl-functionalized ethane-bridged bifunctional periodic mesoporous organosilicas (APEPMOs).

2. N,N-Dimethyldecylamine is used as a stationary phase for the preparation of quaternary ammonium embedded between the propyl and decyl chains (named QA C10).

3. N,N-Dimethyldecylamine can also be used as a pore exapansion of monodisperse phenylene-bridged organosilica spheres.

4. N,N-Dimethyldecylamine is used to produce cationic surfactants or amphoteric oxamine surfactants, which can be used in daily chemical, personal care, fabric washing, fabric softness, corrosion resistance, printing and dyeing additives, foaming agent and other industries.
